Neil Bush Interview for Texas A&M

Posted on

I’m not a very political person, but of course I know who the Bush family are… kind of. Today’s shoot brought me through a Secret Service checkpoint as I travelled to the Bush Compound in Kennebunkport, ME to interview Neil Bush for a promo video for The Bush School at Texas A&M.

As I was waiting for the clients from Texas A&M to show up, I had a great talk with a very nice young woman. Later that day I would learn that he name was Jenna, and she was the daughter of George W. Bush. See, I told you I only “kind of” know who the Bush family was.

Once the client arrived, Neil Bush, the former President’s brother, started our shoot off by showing us around the compound, so we could choose the best place to conduct our interview. As we came upon the main house, a very nice woman was outside tending to her garden. After Neil introduced us, she quickly invited us inside for a tour. This is when I realized I had just met the former first lady. I guess I really had no clue who most of the Bush family was.

Laura and Neil gave us a fantastic tour of the house. As i was admiring a painting in the dining room, I heard a voice behind me say, “I painted that.” I turned around to find former President George W. Bush standing behind me. He was getting ready to grill up some lunch, and invited us to stick around for a burger and a beer. Talk about surreal. Unfortunately, we had to decline the offer as we still had an interview to conduct. This was by far, one of the coolest experiences I’ve had working in this inductry.
